It only took an hour of working on my WordPress site (locally) for me to break things.
My obsession with URLs got the better of me and I tried removing what I thought was an unnecessary path from site address setting and BOOM! I was locked out. After a half a second of panic I realized this is what I was looking forward to. I needed to take time away from the monotonous rat race that was my life to tinker and break things. It’s difficult to explain how much fun it is to build a site from start to finish for the first time after a dozen years of working on them.
In other news, if you ever get locked out of your WordPress site by changing the site address in the setting just know it’s an easy fix. You just need to edit the wp-config.php file and change two lines defining WP_HOME and WP_SITEURL. Check out this article for more info on changing your WP site address manually.
